a year. I took this week to reflect on this past year, and all its ups and downs. And I also took time to write down my goals for 2015. (New goals are taped to my bathroom mirror for now. Any ideas where to post them so that I actually see them everyday?)
2014 has been a year of love, learning and growth. I feel like so much has happened in my personal life, that my ultimate test this year has been on my work-life balance. I’m putting big changes in effect for 2015, that will help me have a better balance. I have been trying to do everything and be everything, and I’ve learned (the long & hard way) that it’s not possible or efficient. So 2015, I’m ready to ask for more help. I can’t wait. Bring it on!
Here are some of my highlights from 2014:
Snowed in with friends in Sag Harbor, NY.
Moved my mom to NYC!
Took a tropical vacation to St Thomas with my sister Toby.
Attended Tribeca Film Festival with my sister Melissa (who won best online short!).
Learned to climb. <nervous smile>
Relaxed in South Beach with Aczeb & friends.
Spent a weekend in Ogunquit, Maine.
Celebrated the 4th of July weekend in Mantalooking, NJ.
Enjoyed an incredible evening at the Wheatleigh Hotel.
Attended a wedding at Hancock Shaker Village in the glorious Berkshires.
Spent lots of time on the Hudson.
Hiked 10 miles straight upwards to the top of Lake Minnewaska. SO WORTH IT.
Toured Spain with Aczeb. Our first international adventure together!
Jumped for joy on the farm. Upstate, NY.
Experienced hot air balloon bliss at sunrise over Napa Valley.
Wine-tasted at Hall Winery with the Chilean Red chandelier by artist Donald Lipski in Napa Valley. This thing is bonkers.
Got back in the saddle after sooo many years.
Celebrated our Libra birthday dinner with my family at our favorite restaurant in NYC.
Launched thesarahjohnson.com, and #SisooPrints.
Pumpkin-picked with this little noodle.
Blinged out a baby. My dear friend gave birth to this little sweetheart (on my birthday!).
Celebrated Thanksgiving and West Coast sissy’s return (again at our favorite restaurant).
Attended the USO Gala with my sister (& veteran) Toby. One of my favorite nights of the year.
Threw the first Sisoo trunk show.
I hope you can take some time to think about the highlights of your 2014, and write down some plans for 2015. The years fly by so fast, and even faster the older we become. I have a theory: when we live each day with more intention and purpose and plan and anticipate unique experiences that break our everyday routine, time slows down (just a little).
