California Love: 10 Days of Sunny Bliss

I am happy to report I’ve crossed off #47 on my 101
in 1001 list
: spend a week in LA visiting my sis. If you’re following along on instagram, you might have seen my recent beach, succulent and Venice shots I’ve been geeking out over. This break is just what I needed. I feel so blissed out here: hanging with my sister (and celebrating her birthday!), soaking in the sunshine of 70 degree weather, taking daily beach strolls, exploring different neighborhoods (I love driving with the windows down!), visiting with some of my best friends from college, and indulging in the best vegan/vegetarian spots (Cafe Gratitude will always have my heart). I am in heaven. I go back tomorrow night to the snow and cold of NYC. I gotta say, I’m not quite ready to leave. Check out more pics of my adventure below!

Read my reaction to these HUMUNGOUS ocean front succulents on Venice Beach.

My sister lives a block from the beach. WHAT!?

Feels so grounding and awesome to connect my feet (and soul!) with the sand and salt water. (Yes I made my sis, right, get those ultra violet Lululemons. Aren’t they so rad?)

Succulent heaven on Abbott Kinney.

Remember who you are mural in Venice.

Smokey piñas punch with Sunday brunch at Cliff’s Edge. (benison mezcal, claro rum, grilled pineapple, pineapple-green tea, lime)

The most beautiful statement cactus in Santa Monica.

I love how you can taste a hint of the salt water in the air at the beach.

How beautiful is this flowering jade plant? I keep forgetting that it is February because there are blooms everywhere.

Not New York City.

Shopping in Silverlake. I’m in *love* with these African indigo textiles.

These succulent babies live in the front yard of my sister’s bungalow.

More sunsets please.

This is the truth.

Look up.

Love this mural! Thinking about all my readers! Love you!

The colors are so happy here.

Art everywhere, flowers everywhere. Makes me so happy.

Beach break.

Night out in Los Feliz with my old college friend, Kate. We met these three (and their chauffeur). Imagine going on a date with this guy and these three are chilling in the back seat? We cried we laughed so hard. ps. They wear Santa hats at Christmastime.

Looking for dinner on Rose Avenue and found this.

My favorite falafel place on Abbott Kinney. No fake shit at Fala Bar.

Falafel followed by donuts??!! So naughty.

My happy place. Grateful for this trip. I’ve felt more like myself than I have in a long time. Vacations are the bomb dot com!

I am a lifelong New Yorker who recently swapped the subway for the California sunshine. I've learned the only way out is through--and tough stuff makes you a whole lot stronger. Currently hooked on planning & organization, kombucha, succulents and my labradoodle child. You can usually find me in the #sisoostudio, working on my latest DIY project, designing gemstone & crystal jewelry, daydreaming about one day operating a flower farm, and spreading the Finnish spirit of sisu everywhere I go.
