I started incorporating point-back crystals into my jewelry designs when I taught myself the SISOO SOLDER™ method. Point-back crystals started to become expensive when I was designing my Fall 2015 collection, because I needed to source so many colorways. With this hand-coloring crystal trick, I could buy a gross of clear point-back foiled crystals and turn them into whatever colors I needed. PFM! (Pure freaking magic!) I saved myself a lot of dollar bills. 🙂 But more importantly, I LOVE how the customization looks.
I was on bedrest for months with a shattered knee (you can read about that experience here), and during that quiet time I made it my mission to figure out this crazy.sexy.cool method of crystal color customization.
My priorities in discovering how to color the crystals were 1) keeping the crystals looking the *highest* quality and 2) making sure the color had longevity so the jewelry could live on for many generations to enjoy.
Good news for both of us…I figured it out! I am crazy pumped about this method, for many reasons, but mostly I love that it allows for complete customization. (I actually started selling more wedding jewelry than ever, once I offered this custom color option!)
I’m sharing all the necessary steps and supplies with you, so that you don’t have to waste a single second figuring it out on your own.
