I often admire the charming mason jar bouquets at my local Whole Foods but never purchase one because they always are overpriced.
I am a mason jar fan. I buy them in bulk, and use them in many ways:
- storing leftovers
- storage for bulk food (It makes me so happy labels on all my pantry jars.)
- drinking glasses
- making (and shaking) bulk homemade salad dressing
- candle-making vessels vases
- storage for pencils/pens/tools
- meal prepping
- vases
- and more
Not sure what I'd do without all my mason jars. Thank you Mr. Mason Jar, for existing!
I'm sharing an easy tutorial on how to put together a charming little mason jar bouquet of your own.

LOCAL GROCERY STORE
Trader Joe's flowers are my top pick. They have a great selection and are super affordable compared to other grocery stores.
LOCAL FLOWER maRkEt
The Downtown Los Angeles flower market is one of my favorite places in LA. I've been known to get up at 5am and go stock up on wholesale-priced flowers. (This is how I did our wedding flowers for only about $500!)
Search online to see if your town offers a wholesale flower market. (This is often where local florists purchase their flowers from.)
From YOUR OWN YARD
Nothing beats homegrown!
Make MasoN JAR BOUQUETS in BULK
It's easy to create mason jar bouquets in bulk. Line up your jars on a big table, trim your flowers in bulk, and create an assembly line. You'll be surprised how many jars your can fill in no time!
It's the perfect project to add a personal touch to your space for your next special occasion, holiday, or event.
- Valentine's Day
- Mother's Day
- birthday celebration
- wedding or shower
- dinner party
- or even for restaurant or cafe table tops
Supplies YOU NEED
- 16 oz mason jars (or larger)
- ribbon (I love using hand-dyed silk ribbon like this or this)
- scissors
- assortment of flowers
How to cut the flowers
Trim flowers so that they arrange nicely in your mason jar. I like to cut stems about the length of the jar.
I don't prefer to let the stems be viewable. If you still see some stems, cut some additional length.
If you are using a taller jar, cut the stems longer, if you are using a shorter mason jar, cut the stems shorter.
Trimming the stems the appropriate length will create more of a full, bulbous look with your bouquet, especially if you cut the stems at slightly varying heights.
How to Tie the Ribbon around the jar
Wrap a ribbon around each jar twice, and finish with a bow. I suggest attaching the ring of the lid on the jar, it looks more finished.
Then of course, don’t forge to add water!
