I aim to take just 20 minutes each evening (to help me wind down) to do something nice for my body. Some nights it’s steaming my face over a simmering pan of distilled water to help clear my pores. Other evenings it’s sitting in the hot tub (yay, LA!) to let the jets massage my muscles. Sometimes it’s simply changing the polish on my nails, or other days–my favorite– getting quality time in with the greatest piece of gym equipment ever made.
I truly notice the immediate effects of taking great care of myself. And because I know how good it’s going to make me feel, I have learned to love to discipline myself to take the “time out” and enjoy the process of pampering. My latest pamper session was with this decadent DIY lemon salt scrub. I gotta say, I think I sloughed off an old grumpy layer of myself. I felt so recharged after using this scrub on my hands, arms, feet and shins. I haven’t exfoliated in awhile, and it felt like my energy flow was blocked. After doing this scrub I felt a world of difference in my body, spirit, intensity. Plus, this stuff made my feet look damn sparkly and fresh.
WHAT YOU NEED
4 tbsp coarse sea salt
2 tbsp coconut oil
3-5 drops of lemon essential oil
THE INSTRUCTIONS
You can make whatever quantity you like, the ratio will cheap viagra professional always be two parts salt to one part coconut oil. (Add essential oil sparingly to larger quantities, a little goes a long way.)
- Add the salt to the jar.
- Add the oil to the jar.
- Add the essential oil to the jar.
- Mix thoroughly.
OK, here’s where I went supermom on myself. I was concerned that if I used this scrub in the shower the coconut oil would make the tub crazy slippery. (What can I say, I’m knee-paranoid and probably always will be from here on out…)
So I set up a spa-situation on the patio. I brought out a basin of hot water and several hand towels for dunking. Here’s how I recommend you use the scrub (and avoid any tumbles in a slippery tub):
- Take a little water and wet the surface you’d like to scrub.
- Scrub vigorously.
- No really, scrub it, and scrub it some more. (There is some stress relief in the scrubbing. The friction of the salt creates a massage-like experience.)
- Once you’re done scrubbing, take one of the towels and dunk into the hot water and ring out excess water. Wipe down the scrubbed area to remove excess oil and salt.
- Enjoy your new, bright, smooth, silky skin.
You are welcome!
I’m adding this one to my weekly pamper schedule. Hope you will, too.
