My friend Lisa got me a Whirley-Pop Popcorn Popper for my birthday one year, and I LOVE it. I use it all the time. It can make up to 6 quartz of popcorn in about 3 minutes. It has a patented stirring mechanism that prevents the kernels from burning. My favorite part about popcorn is getting creative with the toppings. Here are 4 of my favorite (and easy) popcorn recipes, just in time for an Oscar party tonight!
BUFFALO CHEDDAR POPCORN
6 cups popcorn, popped
3 tsp hot sauce
2 tbsp powdered cheddar cheese
While the popcorn is still hot, put it in a plastic bag and pour the hot sauce inside. Shake vigorously until the popcorn is coated. Sprinkle the powdered cheddar cheese in the bag and shake vigorously again. Serve right away.
TRUFFLE ROSEMARY POPCORN

4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
1/3 cup pecorino cheese, finely & freshly grated
2 tsp truffle salt
1 1/2 tsp fresh rosemary, minced
In a large bowl, drizzle some of the melted butter over the popcorn, then sprinkle lightly with truffle salt, rosemary and pecorino. Toss a bit and repeat as many times as needed; taste as you go. (This one is my absolute favorite!)
COOKIES AND CREAM POPCORN

Break into smaller chunks and serve.
BOURBON SALTED CARAMEL POPCORN

3 tbsp light corn syrup
Heaping 1/4 tsp salt, plus more for sprinkling

Once the mixture comes to a boil, cook another 5 minutes. Remove from heat and add the bourbon and vanilla. Stir thoroughly and immediately pour over the popcorn. Use a rubber spatula to stir until the popcorn is coated. Then spread it out onto a baking sheet in an even layer. Sprinkle a wee bit more salt on top. Bake for 35 minutes, midway stirring the popcorn once more time. Let cool before eating.
